Emergency Shelter

This Is Where Hope Begins

The Emergency Shelter is a short-term solution providing safety and essential services for individuals in need. Guests can stay for up to 30 days per calendar year, with no more than 15 consecutive days at a time. In the event of a local weather emergency, guests may stay in the Emergency Shelter even if they’ve exceeded their time.

Our criteria for the Emergency Shelter will not be changing, however. Individuals must meet the following criteria to use the Emergency Shelter: Over 18, not a registered sex offender, last address in Phelps County, MO, and able to physically care for themselves.

Patrons of the emergency shelter program will have the opportunity to meet with a case manager to work on housing and employment, attend classes/groups, and help around the facility.

After 7 consecutive days in the emergency shelter, patrons may apply for the Rise & Rebuild Program if they wish to stay longer.

If you are experiencing homelessness, a housing crisis, or need other resources, you can seek assistance by calling us at 573-308-5474 between 8AM-4PM Monday-Friday and 1PM-4PM on the weekend.

At the Rolla Mission, Amanda and Ryan found a sense of community and support that they had been missing for so long. They were able to connect with other individuals who had faced similar struggles, and they were given access to resources and services that helped them get back on their feet. They both explained "The Mission was an awakening for us. It gave us what we needed to move forward. The Mission was a place we found a way to not only love ourselves but others. We found hope, love, and faith."

With tears in his eyes Terry said "I finally feel I have made it. I am at peace. I have my apartment and I love to sit at the window listening to the sounds of the birds and the traffic. I never thought I would be at this point in my life. My health is still not doing well, and to know that I don't have to worry about where my next meal will come from or where I will lay my head at night is a blessing. I am happy and for the first time in my life, I am stable."

"Getting my job really helped pull me out of depression. Routine really is so important. The Mission and the programs they offer helped to motivate me. Homelessness helped me to become humble. It gave me a different outlook on life and people. I am thankful for The Mission because they offered me help and resources to get into my home. They paid for my housing application fee and that started the ball rolling. I'm glad The Mission is here, it serves its purpose well."

Kevin has been working our case management program since he arrived. "I'm taking advantage of every resource I can here at The Mission and it is getting me somewhere. It took a few months to get on waiting lists and now I am moving into my own place."
